Audit focus

What the audit examines.

Auditors evaluate objective evidence to determine whether your management system is implemented, maintained and effective within the certification scope.

  • Organizational context and environmental management scope
  • Environmental aspects, impacts and life-cycle perspective
  • Compliance obligations and evaluation of compliance
  • Objectives, operational controls and emergency preparedness
  • Competence, awareness and internal/external communication
  • Monitoring, internal audit, management review and improvement

Before you apply

Prepare the system—not a performance.

The strongest audit readiness comes from a management system that is used in normal operations and produces reliable evidence.

  1. 1Identify environmental aspects and determine which are significant.
  2. 2Identify applicable compliance obligations and how they apply.
  3. 3Implement operational controls and emergency response arrangements.
  4. 4Complete internal audit, management review and corrective actions.
